PROCEEDS FROM 16TH ANNUAL MADDEN & MARIUCCI “BATTLE OF THE BAY” CHARITY BOCCE TOURNAMENT HELPED SUPPORT SEVERAL LOCAL BAY AREA CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Proceeds from the 16th Annual John Madden and Steve Mariucci “Battle of the Bay” Charity Bocce Tournament helped support several local Bay Area Charitable Organizations including: Northern California Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Diabetes Youth Foundation, local High School Football Programs and Mariucci Family Foundation.

“We are thrilled to have the ability to help some local charities and support the fantastic initiatives they are focused on here in the Bay Area” said John Madden. “It is more important than ever that we continue to help such extraordinary efforts in our backyard.”

“This was extremely rewarding to help these charities”, said Steve Mariucci. “We are proud to be serving our community and thankful of all the support we receive from local businesses to help us contribute to such great causes here in the Bay Area.”

The Northern California Special Olympics proceeds will help send local athlete delegations from Contra Costa and Alameda Counties to their flagship Summer Games at UC Davis this summer. The proceeds will also help to underwrite the costs of the Summer Games Bocce Venue.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Diabetes Youth Foundation supported 2,032 individuals affected by type-1 diabetes through Diabetic Youth Foundation education and recreation programs that are offered in Northern California. The proceeds also helped support the Juvenile Diabetes Bionic Pancreas program.

Proceeds continue to support local high school and college football programs in their efforts to increase safety for athletes by funding the cost of new football helmets that comply with safety regulations. Foothill, Livermore, Dublin, Amador, Granada and Livermore Charter Prep High Schools, along with San Jose State University, all benefited from the efforts of the Bocce Tournament.

Finally, The Mariucci Family Foundation, provided grants and delivered services to support underserved youth and their families by providing access to sports, recreational and therapeutic programs, nutrition, education, and healthcare. Prospective grantees of the Foundation include, but are not limited to, charities such as the Beacon House, Camp for the Stars, YMCA, School Programs and Athletic programs consistent with the Foundations charitable purposes, and more. For more information go to www.mariuccifamilyfoundation.org

Since its’ inception back in 1999, this event has raised nearly $5 million for local and national charities. In recent years, the beneficiaries have been: Peninsula Boys & Girls Club, Mariucci Family Foundation, Diabetic Youth Foundation, Easter Seals Kaleidoscope, Northern California Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, local High School Football Programs and more.

This exclusive high-level charity mixer brings together professional athletes, celebrities, dignitaries, and business leaders for a fun day of bocce, world-class wines and Campo di Bocce’s signature Italian cuisine. Not to mention, this event is the home of top-tier networking opportunities and media coverage. This is a great environment and great venue to have fun and connect with respected Bay Area affiliates and top sports figures. It is the only Bay Area charitable event that includes all six Bay Area Professional Sports Teams (Giants, A’s, 49ers, Raiders, Sharks, Warriors) contributing to the cause.
